Some New Year encouragement from some of my favourite writers...
(the text after the link is from within the article, I didn't write it)
Even Ann Voskamp wants a do-over sometimes - “Well….
do I tell you that 2012 was the year I didn’t lose 10 pounds,
forgot every morning for. a. year. to exercise, didn’t finish
reading the Bible, failed to write what I really wanted, never got
the basement backroom gutted, rammed about in the same ruts on rinse
and repeat, only read half as many books to the kids as I’d
planned, and missed
living up to what I’d named this year?”
Regardless of how shiny any life looks like from the outside, the
honest and the Lord look on the bare heart. We
all are failures — at least the honest of us are.
How Not to Read Your Bible in 2013 - When
it comes to daily (or not-so-daily) Bible reading, January 1 can be a
welcome arrival. A new year signals a new start. You're motivated to
freshly commit to what you know is of indispensable importance: the
Word of God. Yet this isn't the first time you've felt this way. You
were entertaining pretty similar thoughts 365 days ago. And 365 days
before that. And 365 days . . . you know how it goes
On to the Next One - Seriously,
try. You might make some great strides this year. I’m hoping to.
There are a lot of improvements I’m hoping to make over the next 12
months. But don’t be surprised a year from now when you realize
that you’ve fallen short…again.
